Description
Tailfins eighth aircraft is a narrow body Airbus A321-200 MSN 864 which started life with British Midland way back in 1998 under the registration G-MIDE. It was only a few months old when a baggage belt loader came into contact with the aircraft at Heathrow airport and punctured the skin. The aircraft was repaired and resumed service with the airline. It was then rebranded as BMI British Midland and continued service until 2006.
Another British carrier, Monarch Airlines, received the aircraft during 2006. Registered as G-OZBL, it flew holiday makers for the next 10 years until the airline went into administration during late 2017.
The final chapter; the A321 went to Small Planet (Poland) in 2018 which was to be its final airline carrier. It was registered as SP-HAU and adorned with a bold and striking new livery spelling out the name of the airline. It served various holiday destinations from its three Polish bases; Warsaw, Gdansk and Katowice airports. However, trouble was on the horizon for Small Planet and in 2018 the airline ceased operations. The aircraft was returned to the leasing company where it was stored and eventually scrapped.
Tailfins have acquired several vibrant skin pieces from the A321 and can be yours to own!
